Independent films components (point 11)

To make our film recognized as an indie film we are going to include the following points:

1- The story.

The indie films stories are simulates reality and that what makes the film convincing and meaningful.

2- General theme.

The themes are inspired by everyday life. Mostly the themes are about love, music or both. 

3- Lights effects.

Lights express the feeling in the scene. For example, gray is a sign of sadness and desperation,

while yellow is a sign of peace and relaxation and pink is a sign of love and happens. There is also a lot of feelings can be expressed by different light colors. 

4- Sound effects. 

Most of the sounds in the indie films are diegetic sounds to make the film close to reality more and more.

5- Narrative style.

the narrative style is used to attract the viewer attention to the story.

3- Lady GumGum's parents kicking her out.

4- The beginning of lady Gum Gum career.

Independent films

The name independent was given to these films for being produced be independent companies. It’s also because this type of films is usually filmed outside the studio system.

For the big knowing studios such as Fox, Warner Brothers, Sony pictures, MGM Colombia Pictures and others, the budget is very important. Producing a film with high quality and satisfy enough for the consumers is there goal, but sometimes reaching that goal is quite expensive. The independent films costs less money. Therefore, the workers on them usually cooperate with other companies.

The reason that the indie films cost less is that they hire no stars. They usually work with unknowing cast which mean paying them less. Teen audience is the biggest target for the indie films. Attracting teens is the centre of attention. Because of that, all the cases and scripts come from the reality life. Basically the films are similar to the real teen’s life.

Indie films became popular recently because of the different and alternative subjects which are quirky, fun and strange. As an example of the independent films there is Juno, Cube, Shadows, Being John Malkovich, Lost in Translation, Blood Simple, Bad Taste, Sideways and many more.

We chose this genre to work with, because we thought it’s the most convenient one to be filmed in the school. Moreover, we will be capable to express our self in our own way and present it to others.
