Sound in Our Opening (point 28)
Sound in
Our Opening
Because
it is an indie film we want the sound to be mainly diagetic, so though out the
film when we use sounds like the hitting of the keys on the laptop when the
male character in in his office, the sounds of when he exits the office and of
the female character in her kitchen, we prefer to record to record on site as much
as possible, where this is not possible we may be able to rerecord some Foley
sounds ourselves and add them in during the editing. We do not see as necessary
using Foley sound found online as it is difficult to find ones that perfectly
match our needs and we want to focus our attention on the music and visual. The
cups beat will be a recording from the main actress. The beat of the cups will
be in tone with the editing and this will keep the rhythm of the opening
flowing.

narrative Theory (point 25)
Todorov's narrative Theory
Todorov in 1969 produced a theory which he believed to be able to be applied to any film. He believed that all films followed the same narrative pattern. They all went through stages called the equilibrium, disequilibrium, acknowledgement, solving and again equilibrium.
There are five stages the narrative can progress through:
1. A state of equilibrium (All is as it should be.)
2. A disruption of that order by an event.
3. A recognition that the disorder has occurred.
4. An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption.
5. A return or restoration of a NEW equilibrium.
In our film we used these stages to build our film as following:
1-
Each character lives its own world as normal he is working on his blog
and she is working on her music.
2-
Suddenly, he gets a writing block
and she gets rejected, therefor, both characters’ lives in a state of emotional
crash and disappointments.
3-
The recognition was when he knew that the girl was his new inspiration and
he blogged about that.
4-
Repairing the damage was when he asked her for a drink and asking for
help and she asked him if she could sing his poems.
5-
The return or restoration of a NEW equilibrium happens when she dies and
then he gets bake to his blog with her inspiration.

Check lest (point 23)
Check lest
1-Music: music is our main focus
in the film. We need to make sure that the opening song attracts the target
audience as well as the rest of the songs in the film.
2-Quirkiness: we decided to
do our special opining scene. The quirkiness is going to be in the way of showing the titles.
3-Colours:
we are using colours based on our mood bored. The colours and the lighting will
be used are going to be quiet and comfortable to look at.
Story synopsis (point 24)
Story synopsis
Our film will be about a
depressed poet suffering from writer’s block, he receives numerous messages
from his blog followers urging him to upload new content. He searches for new
inspiration until he finds it in the form of a girl he hears singing on the beach.
He doesn't know the girl but he manages to take a quick picture of her.
He writes about his new
found inspiration and starts to search for her. In the meantime the singer is
seen struggling to find a venue for her to play at. While searching online foe
potential places she finds a blog of poems and tries to turn one into lyrics
for her new song. The two finally meet one day by chance and their meeting sparks
creativity in both of them. The poet receives a message from the singer where
she asks him to come and see her concert where she plans to sing his poem.
However,
while he gets ready for the date she is seen crossing a road not paying
attention, checking her phone. A car is seen driving up the road coming closer
and closer. Then everything fades to black.
The final scenes show and empty microphone stand on a stage
and then a blank computer screen and the hand of the poet closing the laptop.

justifying my choices (point 16)
To make the mood bored related to my genre. I chose a pattern
of colours which is familiar with the independent films. The general colours
are quiet and peaceful colours, with a touch of bold colours in dome shots to explain the feeling in that scene.
Another choice is the musical theme. The pictures
of the guitar and the girl who is playing the guitar is a sign which is related
to our genre. And the rest of the pictures describe some of the scenes that we
are planning to include in are film. Like the car for example, is going to be
the end of the story.
mood borde (point 15)
The mood bored I made is a combination of the colours, shots
and the main story of our film. As it shows. It’s going to be a musical film with
some sad scenes and other joyful scenes.
9 key screen shots (point 14)

Textual analysis point 13
Textual analysis point 13
The opining of the movie “ Dirty dancing “ starts with a
black background with music going on. The music used express the love and the passion for dancing. It’s also the kind of
music which makes you want to dance. It gives the feeling and the desire
to listen and to watch the rest of the movie.
The dark lighting in the opening gives a sense of depth in
the movement and the emotions of the dancers. Also the slow emotion attract the
audience to focus more in the details of each scene. Moreover, changing the
shots between the dancers doesn’t give the audience a chance to be board of the
slow emotion. It actually attracts their attention more.
In the editing part the harmony between the picture and the
music is coordinated. There is a presided rhythm which makes it easier for the
viewer to stay on track. In addition, the font and the used colour suits
perfectly with the background colours. The combination of pink and grey makes
it nice, easy and clear to read.
For the filming, the opining relied on zoomed and focused shots. You can see close ups on the dancers
themselves to follow the dance movements. Also they used three basic shots in
the opining which are Arc shot, hand held shot and focus pull shot. All of the
previous shots were meant to express the passion of dancing to the audience.
